Amazing atmosphere - Edit
The team were all so friendly and hospitable. The restaurant is very relaxed/homely which was a wonderful change from the pace/restaurant styles we had been eating from. The waitress sung/played piano and was very talented.
Read moreUnfortunately for me the food was not to our taste, I do seem to be the outlier compared to the other reviews. We tried many items on the menu. Cocktails were tasty!

The best side of Tokio - Edit
There's a lot of love in the restaurant here. The food tastes very good, the atmosphere is simply nice because it often happens that someone plays the piano. The two women are also very friendly and you can talk to them superbly. You can also talk in English here.

Lovely place, great people - Edit
We happened to stop by on the owner's birthday without knowing beforehand. An also vegan guest chef took care of the menu that evening, and while our burger was delicious, it's not really representative of the usual cuisine here.
Read moreWe were adopted by the owner's friends into the birthday celebrations and spent a lovely evening with live music and cool, sweet people, great vibes all around.
Judging by the birthday crowd, this place is a gem on regular days as well. Very cozy, warm and genuine.

There aren’t enough words to express the love - Edit
There aren’t enough words to express the love I have for Mer! It was the first fully vegan place I visited in Tokyo and I didn’t get to go there enough times. But every time I was there I was blown away by the warmth of the staff and the lovely soul-filled food and drinks they serve.
Read moreThe home-made ginger ale and the Japanese forest soda was two favorites. Food wise I loved everything but the steamed seasonal vegetables paired with amazing miso (I think it was) was so full of life and care!
But the rice and tofu pattie (it has another name but I don’t remember…) was like a hug.
I just love this place. can’t recommend enough!
Pros: The food , The staff , The music and arts
Cons: It’s too far away from where I live…

So this is an 'actually' vegan place, with flyers, animal rights messages and political information. Cool!
Read moreVery good vibes, love the whale plushie, staff was also adorably nice. I regret not asking more questions about the current animal rights situation in Japan.

We had a homey and satifying dining experience at Mer.🩵 The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable, and service super kind. Great vibes altogether.
Read moreWe ordered both an appetizer and a main since the other reviews pointed out the smaller portion size. All food we received was very tasty and clearly made with love. There was also an otoshi served for the 500yen table cover, which was exceptionally good yube.

Great food and nice vibes - Edit
Really quaint spot in Shinjuku with a super welcoming vibe. There was no lunch menu (as far as I could tell) just a vegan curry that you could customise with toppings but it was really tasty. If you can get the table by the window where you sit on the ground rather than on chairs you get a great view out of the crossroads outside.

Creative vegan dishes, intimate vibe - Edit
Compact and intimate restaurant serving creative, aesthetic, homemade vegan dishes. For lunch they only have one dish - a hearty curry with vegetables and rice, to which you can add many toppings (with an extra fee). For dinner there's a larger menu with options ranging from crispy vegetable galettes to fried mushrooms, pasta dishes to rice dishes. Note that there's a 500 yen cover charge which includes bread and you must order at least one drink at dinner time. They have a good selection of natural wines, and I loved their cacao wine. Staff are very warm, attentive, and welcoming. The ambiance was great, with dim lights, live music (occasionally), and eclectic decor. Convenient location within walking distance of Shinjuku.

Beautiful unique setting great food - Edit
We had difficulty finding Mer at first. The location in Apple Maps took us 800m away. But we were determined. It’s 250m from Shinjuku-gyoemmae station if that helps anyone.

The staff were beautiful.
Food delicious. Service relaxing. The music is live and lovely. It felt like being at a friends house.
We had, pickles, hummus, grilled vegetables, Japanese mushrooms, fried rice balls. For Drinks, we tried the house made soda. The Japanese Forrest soda was sooo good.
I’m so happy we found this place.
Pros: Great food and flavour , Beautiful staff (some sing and play piano), Warm and relaxing

Cosy cute place - Edit
We stumbled across this place by chance, and I’m very glad we did - the staff / owners are super delightful and friendly, and are genuinely interested in getting to know their customers. The vegan options are marked clearly (though the menu is in Japanese so some clever use of Google translate is required) and the dishes we tried were superb. Homemade hummus made from scratch in front of our eyes, homemade rice flour bread (I only wish we were given more of this) and the ‘whimsical’ fried rice was great. Food took a little while on account for there only being one chef, but it was worth it.
