Incredible hidden gem - Edit
Stopped here with the dog while we were around the area , how lovely, the new owners seem so lovely, happy to chat and talk about bits they've found in the area, absolutely incredible cauli wings, beautiful coffee and even better chocolate cake.

New Owners as of September 2025! 🦍🌱 - Edit
The Eating Gorilla is something of a vegan institution in North Wales. The cafe was established in 2019 by Diane and Robin, and as of June 2025, the business was ranked the top 8th vegan eatery globally on Happycow.
Read moreIn September 2025, The Eating Gorilla was taken over by Becky and Barry. The eatery is still fully vegan, and as they are still settling in the former opening times, payment methods and decor are currently unchanged. The menu at present is small and changes frequently, and it is often posted on Facebook. Some of the types of dishes on offer include stews, soups, curries, pasties, bagels, burgers, paninis, and quesadillas. There are also baked sweet treats available, some of which include lemon drizzle cake, chocolate chip cookies, banana muffins, fig & almond cake, biscoff tiffin and apple tiffin cake.
I visited for the first time today and went for a Quesadilla, Almond Flat White, and a Chocolate Orange Cookie Bar, and I also took a Vanilla Tray Bake slice away. The quesadilla was well presented and satisfyingly crispy, and the coffee was superb. I also really enjoyed both baked treats, especially the tray bake.
I am SO thrilled that the business has been taken over by lovely new people who are keeping the business vegan. I am really excited to watch them put their own stamp on the place and to try more of their vegan delights. Vegans in North Wales I urge you to visit The Eating Gorilla as there are so few fully vegan eateries left in the region it is important to show our support now more than ever! 💚

I'm not sure how I resisted the excellent selection of cakes but my sausage and hash brown bagel was very tasty.

We have been here a few times while on holiday in the area but now we have moved house and are only 20 mins away we are looking forward to being regular customers. The food is always fresh and delicious with very generous helpings. . The cakes are amazing and the coffee is great. Add to that the very lovely staff and what more could a happy vegan want !? 🤩

Great food, big portions - Edit
Great food and drinks, and all vegan. Big portions, good value for money. Wide range of meals and often do specials, the veganuary 3 course deals were particularly outstanding as all homecooked food (including bread and pastries). Diane is an excellent chef, so I feel super lucky that she is vegan and this is local to me :-)

Beautiful! - Edit
The staff are really the highlight of this place, funny, friendly and provide great service. Love the atmosphere of the place, we actually stayed a long time because it was so nice!
Read moreThe food is outstanding, you can tell a lot of thought and care is put into what they serve and how they serve it. The taste of the food is some of the best I've had.
I had the iced chocolate honeycomb drink and my husband had a mocha, a brilliant standard of chocolate and coffee used in both (they sell both there too). The food we had the l#mb kofta and the chickless tikka flatbreads and a "side"(more like a main) of cauliflower wings, the portions are huge!
Pros: Great quality food and drink, Really lovely staff, Nice atmosphere

We travel 2.5 to 3 hours to get to The Eating Gorilla and it is absolutely worthwhile. The breakfasts and the lunches are tremendous. The staff are friendly and engaging. We always have our dogs with us who are made to feel welcome. The desserts are fantastic. This restaurant is a beacon in the Vegan food community

Fantastic find - Edit
I visited The Eating Gorilla because it was the only vegan place for miles. We were taken by surprise by how lovely it was. It seemed very out of place in a tiny, quaint village when I'd expect to see it in the likes of Edinburgh. The food was delicious and the servings were huge! We left with a takeaway lunch to feed ourselves in a vegan barren area the next day. Cake and chocolate bars, we were sorted. Highly recommend a visit.

Excellent vegan cafe - Edit
Stopped in for a late breakfast on route to our next camping stop, hubby had the avocado, rocket, tomatoes with chilli flakes, and lime on toast.
Read moreI had feta mushrooms on toast (without rocket, don't like the stuff)
Both were extremely tasty and freshly prepared, with an excellent combination of flavours.
I also had a slice of cheesecake (raspberry and gin, gluten-free) absolutely delicious 😋 hubby had a matcha, blueberry and white chocolate gorilla ball which he thoroughly enjoyed.
We took away 2 cornish pasties to have later, and of course I had to have another piece of cake! The carrot and pistachio tray bake was lush, moist, and full of flavour.
I also bought some solid shampoo bars and handmade soap.
Please go if you're ever in the area, it's well worth a visit! 🌱☕️🍰😋❤️

Vegan heaven - Edit
What a wonderful vegan eatery, There's a great range of dishes to choose from. The food is really tasty, beautifully presented and the portions are very generous. We took a new vegan there and they were really impressed. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the Eating gorilla team are top notch cooks and bakers. They do meals, baked goods, cakes and desserts to take away. The cornish pasty tasted spot on - and that's coming from a couple from Devon who consider themselves pasty connoisseurs😄We also tried various desserts and cakes including baklava, raspberry and gin cheesecake, carrot cake and cherry bakewell tart. All delicious. We're really looking forward to visiting again.

Love this place. Not just fully vegan menu but also embrace the ethos with leaflets and information on animal rights. The food is generously sized and very tasty. This visit I had a hotpot. Rich Soya mince and lentil with roast potato top and very cheesy. Came with loads of veg. Shout out for the scones as well.

Great value, delicious healthy food - Edit
The staff were lovely and there's a great selection of tasty and healthy foods. The juice of the day was good and the cauliflower wings some of the best I've had. Portions are large so I struggled to eat all my Mac n cheese but it was so good. Just finished off our takeaway cakes which were also delicious. Cafe itself is really pleasant and had a nice feeling. We were glad to know it was cash only before we went too. Highly recommend!

Simply delicious - Edit
On our last day of the holiday, my partner and I decided to go out for our last vegan breakfast. The choice was very simple, the eating gorilla had outstanding reviews, and it was close to our location.
Read moreI have to admit that we hit the bull's eye.
For breakfast, we ordered breakfast sausage roll, BLT roll, and sweet and savoury waffles. We shared everything. The food was very good but we agreed that the BLT roll was our favourite. Both Zen coffee and Macha latte were delicious.
We also ordered cheesecake, dirty cow cake, and two patties to go. Everything was delicious, especially the patties and the cheesecake.
The place is a bit outdated, but this didn't bothered us much. The service was good.
There is only a cash payment, but don't discourage yourself by that as they give you a PayPal transfer as an option. Also the atm machine is within short distance from the place.
