Super friendly Toastie stop - Must Visit! - Edit
Really interesting menu of various Toastie fillings, the Toastie are called ‘jaffles’. The staff are super friendly and helpful and it has a welcoming vibe. If you’re heading into the city this a must on your stop! The jaffle I had was a special miso tofu one which was truly unlike anything I’ve had before and a great refuel on a day of exploring the city. They don’t have a loo, but as you are in the city there are other public loos around just to be prepared. The seating is pretty cosy and it can get busy but turnover of customers is fairly quick, the place had a good buzz too.

I’ve been to Union Kiosk a couple of times, and the jaffles are always so delicious that I wolf them down before I remember to take a photo. Excellent quality and flavours with delicious fake meat options and some really cool flavours. Its always a really filling eat.

Read moreWhile we were there, one of the staff members found a lost puppy and took the time to help it get back home. She was so lovely, and it was really nice to see such genuine kindness. Great food, wonderful people, and hands down some of the best toasties you’ll find in Melbourne. We’ll definitely be back!

Have tried a few of the jaffles and they were all really nice and filling, definitely a good deal for the price. The croissants however are always dry, thought it was an off day the first time so tried one again and it was the same. The other cakes are nice though

I must've visited this place 10 times in the month I spent in Melbourne. I tried almost every toastie on their menu and my personal faves were the Korean kimchi beef and the mac and cheese. I loved the location, the outdoor tables are a great spot to sit and read a book. Sheltered from the Melbourne rain bit still a great view for people watching.

I hadn’t had a jaffle for ages and these were amazing. We got the spinach and mushroom, and the bolognaise. Both were delicious and toasted to perfection.

I've always been slightly disappointed by Jaffels - they sound so exotic to non-Australians, until you realise they are just toasted sandwiches by another name. So, despite all the rave reviews, I came here expecting to be underwhelmed. I could not have been more wrong. These are truly amazing. Just so much flavour. I will keep coming back till I've tried them all. Oh, and the coffee is really good too.

Read moreIt has been explained to me that a jaffle, which rhymes with raffle, is a sort of an ironed-close sandwich with hot fillings. I had the buffalo chicken, which was lovely, while a blueberry tart was attractive but a bit on the dry side.

Union Kiosk is an amazing toastie (or jaffles) place! A perfect spot for breakfast or lunch! We had the scrambled tofu, ham and cheese and the chicken and feta toastie. Both were perfect and packed with the amazing filling! They also have a wide selection of pastries and deserts. We were able to get a cinnamon scroll (the best of the bunch!), a chocolate croissant, a brownie and others! Definitely check this place out!

We came back in December 2025 and were so happy (and not at all surprised!) to see that this place is thriving in the CBD! The jaffles were better than we remembered and the staff do such a great job considering they are always so busy!

Have only ordered through uber eats but so good I’ve ordered twice and plan to again before I leave Melbourne. Tried their veg bolognese, buffalo ‘chicken’, scrambled tofu ham & cheese and their PB choc cookie sandwich so far. Can’t recommend enough!

Very cute little cafe which serves a huge range of absolutely delicious jaffles. I've been here many times but still haven't come close to trying all the flavours. Try the Mexican bean one if you come here, it's [censored] good. The coffee is really good too.
